In 1907, Company Quarter-MasterSergeant Williams was appointed gym-nastic instructor at the University gym-nasium and his place as taken bySergeant Repath. In 1909 a telegraph section, the first of its kind inCanada, was authorized as part of the Companys establish-ment with Lt. T. C. Irving as On the declaration of war instructions from Ottawacalled for the Companys recruiting men for service response to this call 251 and men proceeded toValcartier on the 22nd of August, 1914, under Capt. T. , afterwards Irving, , killed inaction; Lieut. E. Pepler, , now Major, who was awardeda Croix de Guerre, March 11, 1916; Lieut. H. F. H. Hertz-berg, now Major, Field Company, Military Cross andMentioned in Des-patches, wounded,and Lieut. N. , nowMajor, FieldCompany.
