If our legislators realized that an improvement could bemade in the condition of people afflicted with epilepsy, theymight be readier to appropriate money for the amelioration ofthe disease. Physicians agree that there is an improvableclass. Of this class. says Dr. Frank Billings, in an articleread before the Illinois State Medical Society in 1909, 10 percent or more can be cured by proper care. But even the greatmajoritv who are not classed as improvable can be greatly bene-fited, mentally and physically, by living under properly regu-lated conditions in an atmosphere of sympathy and understand-ing. It has been found that in a colony, regular occupation, se-lected diet and the hygienic life result in a material improvementtaking place in a large majority of the patients living in thecolony.
