Study of the 'The Regents of the Children's Orphange in Haarlem'; pub. 1821-28. Creator: Jan de Bray (1627-1697).

Study of the 'The Regents of the Children's Orphange in Haarlem'; from a Collection of engravings and drawings by the Dutch pub. 1821-28 (engraving). Dutch Golden Age; seen in the common black and white dress that was popular in the highly Protestant country during this period, despite the sobriety of their dress however the ornate Oriental carpet/cloth that adorns the table subtly suggesting the wealth and status of the men; the group appears to have been interrupted mid-meeting, as they all turn in unison to face the viewer.
