A Navy F/A-18C Hornet clears the bow as it catapults from the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) on April 9, 2005. The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group is conducting operations in support of multi-national forces in Iraq and maritime security operations in the Persian Gulf. The Hornet is assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron 147 deployed from Naval Air Station Lemoore, Calif.
