Poinsettias sold at from $2 to $12 per pot or pan, but there was a large surplus this year, more being grown than ever before. There was a ^reat sale of solanums, particularly Cleveland. At one time a shortage of orange plants seemed probable, but a considerable number were unsold. These sold at $5 to $15 each. There was a good call for primulas, ericas, camellias and other plants, as well as ferns, fern dishes and other decorative plants. A few pans of hyacinths and tulips ap- peared, but no freesias. There were con- siderable numbers of plants unsold, but everything considered, it was a .satis- factory Christmas. The weather all through Christmas week was ideal, with clear skies and no low temperatures until Christmas night, when the mercury tumbled to near the zero mark. The Market. Business since Christmas has been a little dull. Prices on roses and carna- tions are well There is a surplus of stevia. Paper Whites and lilies, and mums are out of the way for the season. Violets and sweet peas are quite scarce, owing to the colder weather. Club Meeting. Coming, as it did, December 21, near Christmas, there was a good attendance at the meeting of the Gardeners' and Florists' Club, when officers were elected and W. H. Elliott lectured on California. One new member was elected. It was voted to hold a banquet in Horticultural
