This distinct variety is a most important addition to our list of roots for stock feed- ing, as itcon- tains less water and more sugar than any other Man- gel. A spe- cial feature is the rich, deep yellow color of the flesh, nutri- t i o u s and milk produc- ing qualities. In England, where it is c onsi dered i n d ispensa- ble for dairj' f a r m i n g, large dairj' farmers state that they are not only able to obtain a higher price per gallon for milk from cows fed on this Mangel, but also that the cows are in a much better condi- tion fed on hay and Gol- den Tankard Mangel alone, than if fed on hay, Y e 1 1 o w Globe Man- gel, and four pounds of Linseed Cake per day. Sheep GOLDEN TANKARD YELLOW-FLESHED fed on this MANGEL. variety thrive splendidly; and if the Golden Tankard is given with other sorts, the sheep will pick out every piece ot it before touching the others. On account of its peculiar shape it can be left very close in the rows, and therefore is a very heavy cropper. Per pkt. 5 cts.; oz. 10 cts.; ^ 5) 20 cts.; per B) 55 cts. This variety does not at- tain to the large size characteristic of most mangels, but , is remarkable for its earliness and its smooth, symmetri- i cal, globe-shaped roots. The roots are seldom over eight inches in length, but the length is fully equaled by the I diameter, and as they can be grown very closely together they make as large a bulic per acre as the sugar beets.
