The instrument which I usualh employ for Politzers inflation(Fig. 41) has a capacity of ten ounces, and is fitted with either anindia-rubber teat or Allens pads. (Fig. 45.) The length of thetubing between the bag and its nozzle—about sixteen inches—-enables the surgeon to move his arm freely whilst compressingthe bag, and prevents the possibility of injury being caused by anymovement of the surgeons hand being communicated to thepatients nose.
