Baby taro corms (Colocasia esculenta), raw on cutting board. In many regions of Brazil there is confusion between the taro, plant of the genus Colocasia; the 'inhame', of the Dioscorea genus; and the 'cara', plant of the genus Alocasia. In Brazilian regions with Japanese immigrants, the taro is also known by the Japanese name sato-imo.
