The scenery hereis of the wildest and grandest—a mountain range, ragged and rugged, receding from the river on thewest, while more rounded and swelling elevations, covered with forest growths, stretch away to theeastward. The Lime Rock village lies about a mile to thewestward of the railroad station, and is reached bya beautiful driveway. The name Lime Rock issuggestive enough; for all through this section ledgesof the whitest limestone, seamed with lines of grayand black, show gleaming in the sunlight, or as whiteand gray patches among the shadows of the woods. Falls Village But the river, and incidentally its great adjunct, the railroad, easily finds a way of getting past theapparently impassable barrier described above, bywinding around its base, and after passing for afew miles through the fascinating scenerjf of thesection, comes suddenly to one of the most beautifulwaterfalls imaginable—that at Falls Village.
