These ejectors are operated by com-pressed air, which is furnished by two5 x 6 x 5 duplex steam driven hori-zontal fly wheel compressors mountedon cast iron sub-bases and set on a con-crete foundation 12 high. The com- pipes are made by screwing a 1 ringon the end of the wrought iron pipe andcalking this into the cast iron between lead pipes, or leadand brass pipes are formed with wipedsolder joints. Between lead and ironpipes brass ferrules, wiped to the leadand calked or screwed into the iron,were used. No cup joints were allowed
