Rib fractures. Coloured 3D computed tomography (CT) scan of the ribcage of a 27-year-old woman with fractures to the ribs on the right side at the T8 and T9 level (just left of centre). These fractures were caused by a road traffic accident, and have also caused an accumulation of blood (effusion) in the pleural cavity of the right lung (the lungs are not shown here).
