' The market has taken a decided brace the last few days; cool nights have made quite a reduction in crops, which, up to now, were extra heavy. Carna- tions are bringing 3 cents and will not drop below that until after Mothers' day. The rose cuts are decreasing in size daily. Preparations are being made for a rf cord-breaking business on Mothers' day. Cut flowers of all kinds and col- ors, fancy baskets and potted plants are being pushed this season. Cleveland florists have forgotten all about the white carnation and are trying to make forget as well. Eighty-two out of eighty-four florists doing business in Cleveland and vicinity have donated to the Mothers' day advertising fund, which now amounts to over $300. Florists' Banquet. A large and enthusiastic crowd of local florists attended the banquet at the Hollenden hotel May 1. An in- formal meeting was held in the pros- pective quarters of the Florists' Club immediately after the banquet. Nearly all were in favor of the new rooms. There is no denying the fact that the Cleveland Florists' Club, from a busi- ness standpoint, has outgrown the o]<l quarters at 2610 Detroit street, where it has met for many years. The pleas- ures to be derived from the old quarters are for a few. The benefits to be de- rived from the new ones are for the ma- jority. The question of moving will ))o brought up for a vote at the regular meeting May 11, at the old rooniH. Those present at the banquet were: A. Barnow, fJtorge Bate, Herbert Bate, .Tiihn Bleohschmldf, William Braiiiley, Paul Backbofon, W. Calhoun, A. W. Fenton, Frank A. F'Vledley. 8. K. Gartman, , Charles Olbeou, Carl Hagenbur^er, R.
