At Samatoa Lotus Farm, Sangat Siem Reap, Cambodia near Chong Khneas on the Siem Reap River they grow large field of lotus flowers (Nelumbo nucifera) for commercial use. Besides being used as flowers, lotus are cultivated for their seeds (a nice crunchy treat) and for fibre from their stalks that can be woven into fabric. This young girl was selling lotus pods for their edible seeds.
