Sute St, Cluca|« Mention The Beylew when yon write. use of a generator it is possible to heat the water considerably above the boil- ing point. So much depends upon the construction of the boiler that a definite reply cannot be given as to whether or not it will withstand the use of a gen- erator, although it should be used with safety upon any ordinary boiler that is in good condition. Ordinarily the wrought-iron or steel boilers are made to stand more pressure than the cast-iron boilers. COULD NOT HEAT THE HOUSE. After a cyclone had passed through this part of New Hampshire last fall, and cleaned us out, we bought a second-hand greenhouse, 20x65, with 14x16 glass and 11-foot bars. It is an iron-frame house of Hitchings make, with 700 feet of 4-inch pipe and a No. 17 Hitchings boiler. It was late before we got it in running order; in fact, it was too late to get it thor- oughly banked up, but it was in fair shape. The man from whom we bought it claimed that the boiler and seven runs of pipe should heat the house to 60 degrees in zero weather. We put two flows and two returns on each side, under the benches, but on the coldest nights we failed to keep the tempera- ture above 38 degrees, though we had a good fire in the boiler. Now, we should like to find out whether we have made any mistake in the piping, or what the trouble may be. We have a good cellar under the pot- ting room, at the east end. The pipes run on the grade from the west end and drop about fiv
