The Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, also known as the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, one of two cathedrals in the city of the Liverpool is a Grade II listed building and is one of Liverpool's many listed buildings. The cathedral's architect, Frederick Gibberd, was the winner of a worldwide design competition. Construction on the cathedral began in 1962 and was completed within five years. The cathedral was given a the nickname of "Paddy's Wigwam" by locals.
