Cast iron water fountains once provided drinking water in Robin Hood’s Bay. This is an original Victorian fountain of the type formerly found here and outside the Laurel Inn. Before mains water was connected to each property at the start of the 20th Century. The old fountain and adjacent public tap were in daily use to fill buckets for the residents.
