Vintage print circa 1850 depicting the trial of King Charles I of England in Westminster Hall in January 1649. Charles was accused of high treason but refused to answer the charges against him and was sentenced to death on January 27. He was subsequently beheaded on a scaffold outside the Banqueting House at Whitehall on January 30. Engraving by Charles Edward Wagstaff from a painting by William Fisk.
