Fareham , Hampshire Thursday 22 October 2015 WORKERS at a factory have been evacuated following a chemical spill. The incident happened today shortly before 3pm at aerospace company Eaton, in Abbey Works, Southampton Road, Titchfield. ADVERTISING Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service was called and two officers are investigating. A fire spokesman said: ‘We were called at to Abbey Park to deal with a spill of hydrochloric acid from a container. ‘We are looking to see the extent, however nobody was hurt.’ A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said that a team of more than 10 people had been sent out, including an ambulance crew, two ambulance officers and the Hazardous Area Response Team. She said that 12 people at the site were assessed, but none needed to be taken to hospital. Paramedics are still on the factory site to support the other emergency services. A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that they were on the scene as protocol but that there is no risk to the public and that the incident had caused no transport issues. ©UKNIP
