This is a daily stage-route, and is, in fact, an old-established line of travel to the WhiteMomitains, now, of course little used, compared with the railways, butstill taken by knowing ones, and excursion tickets can be arranged inBoston which shall include it as a part of the round tour. Another impressive view of the same nobly modeled range — oneof the most muscular, so to speak, in all New Hampshire,—is gainedfrom Shepard hill, (on the road to Phuiouth) where the Asquam Houseoverlooks its labyrinthine lake. Stages also run daily up to Ossipee Park, — a modern hotel and cottage-station high upon the shoulders of thatfine central height so conspicuous from every part of the lake country.
