All efforts this autumn are to be concentrated upon the dahlia exhi- bition at Unity Hall, Hartford, Sep- tember 19-20. For a number of years this society has also given a chrysan- themum exhibition in November, but will, this season, confine itself to one show. The state fund of nearly $200 has, by legislative enactment, been re- duced a half, much to the discom- fiture of this and other allied so- cieties. A large accession of new members this fall and winter is expected, four having been added at the last meet- ing as follows: D. J. Flynn and Thomas Brydon, Hartford, and J. Ernest Andrew and Harry \\'. Andrew, Bristol. Special prizes have been lib- erally ofCered for the dahlia exhibi- tion, among which are the following: By H. L.
