The department is being equipped with modern appa-ratus with which to demonstrate important lessons of farm-life. Provisions are made for enlarging this equipment inaccordance with the growing needs of the department. Anexcellent reference library has been provided for the use ofagriculture students. This consists of a few hundredvolumes of the latest and l)est literature on the subject, and(20) Ohio University Bulletin 21. 22 Ohio University Bulletin sufficient funds are available for purchasing others as theyappear from time to time. The general plan of the courses in agriculture is tohave the major part of the work done in the field or labora-tory. In the four-hour courses there are two recitationsand two laboratory exercises per week. In the three-hourcourses, one recitation and two laboratory periods of twohours each. To carry out this plan the University has awell equipped agricultural laboratory where many importantlessons can be demonstrated and studied. This includessuch exercises as soil study, seed testing, milk testing, ma-chines, farm accounts, farm plans, plants under laboratoryconditions, and the use of the more common and practicalpieces of agricultural apparatus.
