Winter sunshine illuminates a banner promoting Alternatives to Capitalism, with tents of the Occupy London protesters and the front steps of St Paul's Cathedral in the background. Part of the Occupy London protest, a non-violent protest campaigning against the lack of affordable housing, social injustice, economic inequality and corporate greed and the influence of companies and lobbyists on the are also backed by the tax avoidance protest group UK Uncut. Protesters set up camp outside the cathedral in October 2011 when they were unable to hold their protest outside the London Stock Exchange in nearby Paternoster Square. They were evicted by bailiffs and police at the end of February 2012 after the High Court refused to allow them to appeal against the eviction ruling.
