'' Whenever potash was used in the fertilizers it is found in. 67,—Bunches of six plants of each of three lots: XVIII., nitrate of soda ; XIX., no fertilizer; XX., nitrate of soda, S. Car. rock, sulfate of potash. greater amount in the plant than in those plants not so fertilized, except in case of No. XVI., which for some unknown reason ranks highest. "In sample XVIII. there seems to be evidence of a partial replacement of potash by soda. '' The same result seems to follow from a comparison of samples VIII. and XX.
