Sheep with their new born lambs grazing in the fields.

Sheep with their new born lambs grazing in the fields around Tickenham, North Somerset shortly before the shortest day of the year. The unseasonably mild winter is causing chaos for Britain's wildlife - with spring butterflies and fruit already starting to emerge. Temperatures in Britain have reached several degrees higher than normal for the time of year and environment experts claim insects are being tricked into emerging earlier. A number of red admiral and peacock butterflies, which usually hibernate until spring, have been spotted active. But the discovery is worrying butterfly recorders, who say there is not enough food for the insects to feed on, causing them to starve.
