Top floor with sliding doors to balcony overlooking town. Rentemestervej Library, Copenhagen, Denmark. Architect: COBE, 2011.

Rentemestervej Library is a new focal point for Nørrebro, a busy multicultural district in north-west Copenhagen. An extension to an existing cultural centre, COBE's building houses a children's library, a youth library, an adult library and a conference room. This is reflected in the design of the exterior: four boxes, clad in extruded golden anodized aluminium, stacked like books. A full-height atrium, with dramatic staircases, stands at the heart of the building. The building has won many awards, including the MIPIM Award (Best Refurbished Building) 2011, Copenhagen Award (Best Public Building) 2011, and the Hovedstadens Forskønnelse Award (Best Building).
