He has been connected with fourdifferent churches of this denomination. FortEdward, N. Y., Princeton Pi-esbyterian, WestPhiladelphia, Pa., Second Presbyterian, Scran-ton, and now a member of the Green EidgePresbyterian, of Scranton. While an activeChristian worker he is not tied to creeds or doc-trines, and most of his w^ork has been of aninter-denominational character. In Philadelphiahe was an usher at the Moody and Sankey meet-ings where ten thousand people congn^gatednightly. Later on he assisted in organizing theY. M. C. A. in Dunmore, the Scranton EescueMission, and the Florence Crittenden XKLSON N. While engaged in an arduous profession, neverenjoying robust health, and hampered in locomo-tion, yet Dr. Dean has found time and strengthto do much good in the world, and his works ofcharity will never be known but by the poor whohave received his help without money and witli-out price. Dr. Dean of late years has been ableto walk a short distance without crutches, aidedby a cane. He never had any children.
