This Khodesian tortoise is unusual in that it is the fourth claw that is laclving; four in a juvenile only of a series of at least 6 from Beira (Boulenger : 1907J : 482 and Hewitt: 1935 : 353). The missing claw on each forefoot is represented by a light-colored, rounded tubercle (Battersby in letter of ).
