A Hellenistic Pilos type helmet,4th/3rd century Bronze. Characteristic cone-shaped skull with a high,slightly recessed rim offset by a continuous raised line,chinstrap holes on either side beneath wheel appliqués pierced twice. The crown's apex flanked by two riveted horn decorations on heart-shaped attachments(the horn adornments are replaced). Height with horns 38 cm,weight 1116 g. Green to reddish-brown patina,extensively corroded(mineralised),partial additions.
