In the twelvemontlis preceding the Census year, there were 7,914births ; 3,291 deaths; 1,244 marriages. The numberof males who could read was 57,079 ; of females whocould read, 58,857 ; of males who could write, 59,260 ;of females wlio could write, 48,823. There were 36,936married males; and 37,007 married females; 3,370.
