Plant odour research. Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) plant under a cloche in a laboratory during research into how plants perceive and respond to odours. This research has shown that the dodder plant (Cuscuta sp.), which is parasitic on tomatoes, uses the unique odours given off by the tomato to recognise and grow towards the plant.
