In this case thedentists simply made their work freeto all school children, upon the pay-ment by the latter of a small fee tocover the cost of laundrying towels,sterilizing material, etc. In his reportto the Board of County Commissionerson December 2, 1918, the health offi-cer reported more than 600 childrengiven dental treatment this year. In Franklin County, as in the caseof Madison, special arrangementswere made for the operation at Louis-burg of 73 children, for the removal oftonsils and adenoids. This work wasdone by a Raleigh James McConnell Memorial HospitalMoore County, N. C where more than half the defective childrendiscovered in the State Board of Healthsmedical inspection of schools were givenmedical, surgical, and dental treatment. MOORE COUNTY As a direct result of the medical in-spection of schools in Moore County,conducted by the State Board ofHealth in the early months of 1917,the management of the James McCon-nell Memorial Hospital situated at theSandhill Farm-life School in thatcounty, succeeded in getting a largenumber of children to come to the hos- pital for dental treatment. The planfollowed here was to allow each childto pay a small fee to cover the cost ofmaterial. A dentist from a near-bytown reported at the hospital with aportable outfit on a regular day eachweek.
