Great Blue Heron assumes contortionist pose while preening!
Great Blue Heron assumes a most difficult contortionist pose while preening. Their long sinuous necks are most flexible and can reach in the most amazing ways. This bird is in its full mating colors with the bright blue lore, bill streaked with some reddish orange color and the legs being reddened. Bird hormones are responsible for these color changes and as admirers of beautiful birds we can enjoy the changes.
