Evil looking red Ogoh-Ogoh being prepared for the Ngrupuk Parade on the eve of Balinese New Year. Scary heads in stomach, knees and fierce face
The many faces of Ogoh-Ogoh being prepared for the Ngrupuk Parade on the eve of Nyepi (Balinese New Year). These giant demons are symbolic and created for the purification of the natural environment of any spiritual pollutants. At the Parade these are supported on a grid of Bamboo poles which gives room for men who carry them around the village or town and at every junction spin them counter clockwise three times which is intended to bewilder the evil spirits and scare them off.
