The Essex Rape is extremely valuable for feeding, and is very fattening to both sheep and swine, and also assists in producing an abundant flow of milk in milch cows. It can be used as a part feed for animals that are being fed for market, and is also valuable as a food for lambs at weaning time. It can be sown for fall crop in July and August, and still later in the southern states ; it is sown broadcast 6 lbs. to the acre, but is better drilled, in which case 3 lbs. to the acre will suffice. In a few weeks from the time of sowing, sheep, hogs or cattle can be turned on it; all reports agree that they gain weight faster on this than on any other fodder, and as it can be sown after other crops are off, the gain in fodder is secured at a nominal cost. Stockmen, Dairymen, and Farmers have proved its value. Per lb., lOc, by mail, l8c.; 10 lbs., 90c.; bushel of 50 lbs., $ ; 100 lbs., $ CRIMSON OR SCARLET CLOVER (Trifollum Incarnatum.) The Great Soil Improver, Early Qreen Feed, Grazing, or for Hay Crop. The Crimson Clover has become wonderfully popular both as a pasture and hay crop, also as a green manure for plowing in. It can be seeded at any time from June to October at the rate of 15 to 20 lbs. per acre, and makes the earliest possible green pasture, blooming the latter part of April or May, and for feeding, as hay should be cut just before coming into full bloom. If sown with Italian Rye Grass or Orchard Grass, which mature at the same time, it yields
