Cretaceous of Brazil. Artwork of a coastal lagoon scene reconstructed from fossils in the Crato Formation of Brazil (108 million years ago, during the Cretaceous). A Coxoplectoptera mayfly (upper left) rests on a shoot of a Magnolia-like flowering plant above a pollinating wasp (Cretosphex parvus). A camel spider (lower left) has caught a cricket that was eating the monocotyledon Kitzschophyllites flabellate. Two antlions (Baisopardus cryptohymen) are at lower right, a raptor (Santanaraptor) at centre, and two pterosaurs (Lacusovagus magnificens) overhead. Other plants are Isoetes quillworts and Ruffordia ferns.
