Electrical implant for pain relief. Coloured X-ray of a neurostimulator (cream), which has been placed near a nerve root in the back of a 68 year old patient. The bones of the spine (vertebrae) are seen running down from upper centre. The neurostimulator is used to deliver low levels of electrical energy directly to nerve fibers in order to block the nerve signals of pain. In this case it was chosen as a form of post-operative pain relief for a patient recovering from utero-bladder surgery.
