The double body bolsters are formed of 5-16-in. presseddiaphragms, 10-in. by J^-in. bottom cover plates, and asingle top cover plate J 4-in. thick, as shown in one of thephotographs, forward of this cover plate is a plate extending to the body end sill. This platesecurely ties the side sills, end sills and center sills. Thecross bearers are all formed of 3-16-in. pressed diaphragms. Interior of the Erie Steei Coachies bv with 3J/^-in. by 4-in. top cover plates and 5j2-in,5-16-in. bottom cover plates. The roof framing is shown in the two views of the interiorof the car frame, and has been made to co-ordinate with theupper portion of the side walls in such a manner as to acteffectively in combination with the collision diaphragm, toresist compression stresses and to protect the passengerspace in case of overturning of the car through roof sheets are 1-16-in. ingot iron, and the carlinesare pressed channel, /s in. thick. The clere story is fittedwith Ward ventilators. The seating arrangement of the new cars conforms to thatof other cars now in Erie through line service, a smokingcompartment seating 12 passengers being placed in themiddle of the car. The walls of this compartment are fittedwith leaded glass windows and the seats are upholstered inleather. The seats in the rest of the car are upholsteredin plush. Each end
