Sand obtained from the Missouri River is hauled in wagonsand is thrown direct into the drier through windows in therear wall of the building. No attempt is made to clean thesand before throwing it in the drier, and consequently consid-erable dirt and rubbish collects in the bottom of the bin. Asliding door near the bottom at one end of the bin facilitatescleaning. The drier has a capacity of about 48 cu. yds. ofsand per week, and, with the exception of the occasionalcleaning, requires no attention whatever. ♦-♦^f LAKE SHORE ROAD TRYING TO RECOVER SHORT HAULBUSINESS It is announced in steam-road circles in Cleveland that theLake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway is preparing foran aggressive campaign to win back the connnu
