Enclosed you will find a sketch of our present houses and one proposed house, located across a 16-foot alley. Our pres- ent houses are each 18x75 and are heated by a fifteen horse-power marine boiler. The heating system works finely. The flows rise six feet from the boiler and then branch off for the 21^-inch flows. If we place a boiler in a pit six feet deep, can we faring the pipe across the alley and connect it to the present system? If so, we expect to move the present boiler into the new pit and use another boiler to run both plants. Kindly tell us how it can be done with best results. The flow pipe must be at least under the surface of the alley, to allow driving over. How many 2-inch pipes will be needed for the new house, to maintain a temperature of 50 degrees in this Ohio climate? There are ground benches. How many 214-inch flows will be needed? •' C. B. The sketch shows three houses, each 18x75 feet. Each house has two 2'%- inch flow pipes, with nine 2-inch re- turns in two of the houses, which are heated to 50 degrees for carnations, and eleven returns in the rose house, which is kept at 60 degrees. There should be no trouble about heating the houses with the boiler across the alley. The new house is 21x145 feet and is to be heat
