Gloved hands apply intrasite gel to a bruise (haematoma or bleeding) on the shin in an 81 year old female patient after a blunt injury. This patient has heart disease (atrial fibrillation) and is on warfarin, an anticoagulant drug which prevents clotting. Due to this drug the bleeding has been exacerbated. The gel is a polymer that absorbs exudate but keeps the area moist for a sterile dressing. (see images before and after)
