Planning the 1836 balloon expedition. Consultation prior to a balloon voyage from London, England, to Weilburg, Nassau, Germany. The voyage took place overnight from 7-8 November 1836, and set a record distance for a balloon flight. It covered 722 kilometres in 18 hours. The balloon, the Royal Vauxhall, is seen in the background. From left to right are: W. Prideaux, J. Hollins, W. M. James, Robert Hollond, Charles Green, and Thomas Monck Mason.
