Galaxy NGC 2787, optical Hubble Space Telescope image. This barred lenticular galaxy (whose bar is not seen here) has arms of dust (brown). Orbiting NGC 2787 are around 12 globular clusters. Looking like stars, each one is actually a spherical cluster of many hundreds of thousands of stars. NGC 2787 lies about 24 million light years from Earth, in the constellation Ursa Major.
