Sea fans in the Eastern Fields, Papua New Guinea

In contrast to other most ocean reefs, Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Fields has no surrounding islands. The lack of runoff and the rich nutrient currents afford fabulous visibility, vibrant coral, and abundant biodiversity. The area is replete with enormous sea fans, as demonstrated in this image.
