Fritillaria imperialis. This spring blooming perennial has a pungent skunk like odor. Also know as crown imperialis.
Fritillaria imperialis are unusual and old traditional garden plants noted for their early emergence in the spring and also the pungent skunk-like smell they emit, hence another common name "Stink lily". They are also known as Crown imperialis because their flower heads resemble a crown. These odd plants were reportedly worn around the necks of women in Elizabethan times as a kind of decorative corsage, supposedly as a sign of prestige but also to mask more unpleasant odors.
