A permanent anchored glittering sculpture named,‘She Lies” in the harbour of Oslo in Norway, facing the Oslo Opera House. The floating stainless steel and glass sculpture, evokes the power of ice and water ever-present in the high north was designed and created by Italian artist Monica Bonvicini. It is based on Caspar David Friedrich’s painting Das Eismeer - The Sea of Ice, is an oil painting that depicts a shipwreck in the Arctic by the German Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich. Before 1826 this painting was known as The Polar Sea.
