Hospital doctors in Pszczyna, Southern Poland, would not terminate her 22-week pregnancy, even though the fetus had no chance of survival. Doctors now have to wait for the fetus to die a natural death, before an abortion is performed. Women's rights activists say the woman was a victim of Poland's newly restrictive abortion law. An illegal, unlawful abortion can carry a sentence of up to eight years in prison.
