JACKSON, Henry Clark, a Patri-arch in the Hyrum Stake of Zion, isthe third son of Robert Jackson andHannah Clark and was born June 3,]S19, at Gainsboroug-h, Lincolnshire,England. As a youth he was appren-ticed to learn the blacksmiths trade,which he successfully completed andbecame an expert at that business. HeIwas a member of the Primitive Meth-(odist Church and often occupied thejiulpit as a lay preacher. On hearingthe gospel preached in 1846 he became(Dnvinced of its truth and was bap-tized into the Church Sept. 19, 1846, by ift*. Elder Geo. Robbins and was at thesame time ordained to the office of aPriest. In 1848 he left his native landfor America, landing in St. Louis, remained in St. Louis, working athis trade, till 1850, when he went to<;ouncil Bluffs, Iowa,where he remainedtill 1»52 In that year he crossed thQplains in Capt. James C. Snows com-pany, arriving in the Valley Oct. 7,1852. He located In Salt Lake City,where he followed his trade, and alsotraveled considerably in northern 1865 he removed to Old Paradise,<ache county (now Avon). Bro. Jack-son was ordained an Elder by Jas. Urein 1847, and on Feb. 15, 1853, he wasordained to the office of a Seventy byAlexander McRae, June 5, 1877, he was ordained a High Priest and setapart to act as first counselor to BishopOrson Smith of the Paradise Ward, byApostle Moses Thatcher,
