WINE CAKE. 88 Wine Cake. f cup of sugar. ^ cup of butter and lard (mixed). •J cup of milk. 3 eggs. i teaspoonful of soda. ?J teaspoonful of cream tartar. 2j cups of flour. HOW TO MIX. Rub sugar, butter, lard and soda together 5 minutesuntil creamy, then add in one-half of the eggs and rubabout 2 minutes, add in the balance of the eggs and rub thesame as before, then add in the milk and mix, add in creamtartar and flour and mix gently. Bake in loaf cake orround tins, grease them well and place paper in the a little pulverized sugar on the toip of each onebefore baking, if icing is not desired.
