Excavations at Talaiotic prehistoric tower, Menorca. Archaeologist using a sieve during excavations taking place at the large stone tower (talaiot) at the prehistoric Talaiotic site of Cornia, near Mao on the Mediterranean island of Menorca, Spain. The Talaiotic culture arose on Mallorca and Menorca during the second millennium BC, ending in the first millennium BC with the rise of the Roman and Carthaginian empires. Photographed in 2009.
