Mud Lake—is about 59 miles west ofthis station, across the Humboldt,which here turns to the south, and isone of those peculiar lakes found inthe great basin of Nevada. The lakereceives the waters of Quinns Riverand several smaller tributaries duringthe wetseason. Ithasno outlet, unlessits connection with Pyramid and Win-nemucea lakes could be so is about 50 miles ongby 20 wide, inhigh water; in summer it dwindlesdown to a marshy tract of land and a large stagnant pool.
